We would like our volunteers to be as varied as the women they are helping us to support. We encourage applications from women aged 18+ of all ethnicities, religions, backgrounds and abilities.

Our Power to Change group programme will be starting soon, and we’re inviting interested women to get in touch to join the waiting list.
It’s is a free 12-week self-help, psychoeducational programme for women who have completed the Freedom Programme or a similar programme.
Power to Change aims to addresses the following:
• Dynamics of an abusive relationship
• Boundary setting
• How to gain assertiveness skills and deal with authority figures
• Coping with fear, grief, guilt, anger
• Women’s basic rights
• Building self-determination and empowerment
• Healthy relationships
• Endings and new beginnings

Christmas is fast approaching and for anyone wishing to support our clients and their children at the time, we have put together a wish list.
It’s difficult being in a refuge during this festive period, and we’re immensely grateful to everyone able to help make it better for the women and children staying in ours. Your generosity and support make a tremendous difference – thank you!
More Horizons will be running a 2 day ‘In Control’ Programme on 4th and 18th October.
The sessions will look at techniques to get motivated to achieve goals, learn about a good balanced diet
and mindfulness techniques to improve sleep and release stress.
